SCHOOL BRIEF HISTORY & INFORMATION
Ideal Education School (IES) is a private school serving children aged 6 to 21 with physical and/or cognitive developmental delays. Our reputation dates to 1996, when IES first opened its doors in the Jabriya district of Kuwait. Increasing numbers of students required us to relocate to our current Sharq location in 2000.
IES is situated in the north-eastern part of Kuwait City; close the Gulf Coast, the heart of the commercial district and all essential services. The school operates under the supervision of the Kuwait Ministry of Private Schools and is regularly inspected by the Public Authority for the Disabled.
The school has 5 main departments Cerebral Palsy (C.P), ASD, Down syndrome, Developmentally Delayed, and the Vocational Department, to cater for intellectual and multiple disabilities admitted cases with age ranges of 6 -21years.
Over the years, IES has embraced many major restructuring efforts targeting the high profile need and concern within the school. In the pursuit of the school mission to provide quality education and support services, the school has embraced a continuous improvement and enrichment programs to fully cater for needs of student it admits.
IES has also continued to develop on the school improvement structural framework plan for a continuous school development in ensuring that the key aspects of the school improvement plan is rigorously implemented and reviewed regularly, been an integral part of the school policy plan.
IES School is a recognized International ASDAN Moderator Center for the Middle East, advocating strong vocational programs to ensure students are functional and independent after school in spite of their disabilities. IES holds an accreditation from the National Autism Society (NAS) and also a member of the AUTISM International Society.udent, their families, community members and all other interested parties in order to achieve our objectives.

Our mission at Ideal Education School is to provide quality education, training and paramedical services for students with special needs of intellectual and multiple disabilities in the age range of 6 - 21 years. We aim to develop and improve their maximum potential and independence through various educational and training programs, vocational training programs, and targeted activities, paramedical, behavioral, and psychological services. We believe that everyone has the right to be educated in safe, healthy, caring, and enjoyable environment that provides intercultural and international experiences. We work cooperatively with students, their families, community members, and all other interested parties in order to achieve our objectives.

SCHOOL PROFILE

School Policies
Policy: Health and Safety
Introduction: All members of the school must be committed to ensuring the safety and promoting the health of all.
Measure & Responsibility
The school shall make provision for adequate health care, including emergency health care and health care at school functions which take place away from the school premises.
The school shall have a student health services which includes medical records for all its students, immunization against common diseases and the maintenance of comprehensive records.
The school shall meet or exceed the health and safety requirements of the local government authority and of the Accrediting Associations.
The school shall have satisfactory procedures for evacuating the school buildings and for summoning assistance in case of fire or other emergencies.
The school shall have satisfactory safety bus procedures. The school safety begins from the moment students get on the bus until they reach home.
The school premises shall be maintained in a safe and healthy condition. An adequate number of fire extinguishers and other safety devices shall be available, including a satisfactory fire alarm system.
Availability of trained staffs to operate the school’s safety equipment, fire extinguishers and other safety devices shall be available on the school ground, ready for any call of emergency.
Availability of periodical medical training provision for all staff
The school shall make provision for adequate nutrition and adapting healthy eating habits and providing nutritional education of children and their families. Physical fitness education services will be available for all students.
The vice-principal supervises all aspect this policy and associated procedures. He may further delegate responsibilities, if such assignment(s) fall within prevail of their job descriptions. The school Purpose and Direction team and the Students Well-being committee will be available in ensuring the policy is followed.
Relevant measures within this policy are as follows;
Safety Measures
Security officers and guards will be provided during school hours, with additional after- hour’s coverage as needed. All visitors must check in with office staff before entering the student areas. It is preferred guardians wait at the entrance while their child is brought to them. Gates, doors and rooms will be closed /locked when not in use. When in use they will be monitored by assigned staff. All staff should remain vigilant in approaching strangers and accompanying them to the administrative office.
Maintenance: Any and all maintenance issues (broken and /or inoperative equipment, furniture, etc) must be reported to the health and safety committee members or to the vice- principle immediately who will investigate and take appropriate action without delay.
Hazards: staff will immediately inform assigned maids to clean up spills, empty overflowing waste baskets, etc. more difficult to rectify issues will be reported to a senior authority
Inspections: all staff will perform daily inspections of their work areas to identify and/or remove any safety concerns regular administrative inspections will be conducted on all areas of facility. Inspectors will inform their superior of issues and assist in developing appropriate action plans.
Evacuation & lockdown: clear guidelines will be developed in case a situation requires a school-wide evacuation or security lockdown. Regular practice drill will be carried out familiarize staff and student with appropriate response and procedures
Student supervision: no student should ever be left unattended or allowed to move about the school alone.
Protection: staff member will commit to taking all necessary measures to protect student and keep them safe from harm
Mobility Assistance: only staff member may assist a student with mobility issues (Assisted walking, guiding wheelchairs and /or walkers etc)
Health Measures
Medical services: a full time doctor will be available for student during class hours and staff member in case of emergencies. The doctor will be operating as per the job description and available resources. All treatment will be duly recorded and added to student medical file. Only the doctor will be able to refer the student to other medical facilities for farther treatment, which s/he will monitor. The school will also ensure that other employees, with at least basic first aid training, are hired and made available to assist the doctor as needed.
Prevention and management of communicate diseases. There shall be a qualified / trained nurse available in case of doctor’s absence.
Daily physical checks: teacher will perform daily, non-invasive visual of student to identify any obvious body trauma and will ask the student how they are feeling. If a student voices any physical complaints or has any unusual marks on their body, they will be taken immediately to the doctor by an assistant. An updated medical register for every student in the class is affixed on the class bulletin board with school doctor’s number
Medical Register: Medical records for each student and staff is confidentially maintained with the school doctor
Cleanliness: each area of the school will be adequately cleaned on a daily basis, with additional hygienic measures taken as needed.
Policy Review: This policy will be reviewed every 2 years.
